Hello everyone! First of all, happy holidays to you and your loved ones. We wish you nothing but the utmost happiness. The month of December was quite interesting for us at Symphony. Read on to find out why.
Newcomers
Our communities in Sarajevo, Belgrade and Novi Sad are growing. Vladimir along with Aleksandar joined our Belgrade team as software engineers. Milivoj joined Symphony Novi Sad and Azer joined the Sarajevo team. Welcome guys! We hope to celebrate many great moments with you in the future.
Novi Sad community
Recently, we announced the opening of our Novi Sad hub officially in the Serbian media. The overall feedback was amazing and we’re glad to be recognized as one of the most desirable employers in Serbia. Check out the story B92 did on our Novi Sad community here.
Ivana Spanovic visits Symphony
We had a great honor this month welcoming Ivana Spanovic, one of the best athletes in Europe, at our Belgrade hub. Ivana first spent time chatting with our engineers about our culture and projects and afterwards we gave her a quick tour of our place, explaining why we attach so much importance to the design of our interior space. We are super proud to have someone as successful as Ivana share values similar to ours and we wish her nothing but continued success in the future.
Symphony Meet-ups
In the month of December, all three of our hubs organized one meet-up. The Sarajevo meet-up was held last Friday. Demir Selmanovic, who was the speaker, demonstrated to more than 60 people how to plug into drone control protocol and make your own controller using Node.js. They have created a simple autopilot with a predefined set of commands. The Belgrade meet-up will happen on 22 December, when Aleksandar Ogrizovic and Damnjan Lukovic will share some tips and useful information with the attendees on how to take React development to the next level. You can check out more info on our Belgrade meet-up here. Last but certainly not least, our first meet-up in Novi Sad is to be held on 27 December. Milos Sikic will give a talk on physics-based Android animation.
New Year’s Parties
Our hubs will be organizing awesome parties to celebrate New Year as well as a mini party for the kids. Brace yourself for the pictures, because they are coming!
Events
The hackathon ‘Zajedno postizemo vise’ was organized in Mostar this month, bringing talented individuals and their ideas together in one place. Symphony's Almina and Kenan supported the hackathon as mentors offering the contestants their knowledge and experience. After 48 hours of hard work and dedication, Almina's team was announced as the winner. They won the contest with a web application designed to help kids with special needs improve their learning and studying. Congratulations to all of the participants, you made us enormously proud during those two days.
Haris Smajlovic was a presenter at one of the BITA4students sessions held at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Sarajevo. We'd like to thank Bit Alijansa and all of the students who took part in our session and we hope to see you really soon!
